Oh Sylvia, what a positive way to look at a difficult situation. When we were a few months into the COVID lockdown, I remember the reassurance and joy just watching my beans grow like usual in my garden. I’m sending much energy to you healing and finding relief. Much love to you and Steve.

Thank you so much, Mary. Yes, Covid was quite a time of "meanwhiles," wasn't it?

As in, "I am sitting here, isolated in my house and yard. Meanwhile the beans are growing."

Or, "I can't socialize with anyone. Meanwhile, I have made my way through all the old episodes of 'Murder She Wrote.'"

Or, remember this one, which we both did? "I can't socialize, but I can cook extra and bring some to my friend for dinner."

Much love to you, too, Mary!

Thank you for this post, Sylvia. The good news/bad news paradox is so interesting. The bad news can be so overwhelming that everything seems dark and weighted. I love your idea of looking for the good that may help us get through a bad moment, day, time. That said, I do not minimize the pain and discouragement you have right now. I am sorry for your suffering and hope you can find relief. And I hope I can be part of the positive in your life - can I help? Irene

Thank you so much, Irene. We are doing okay, and the pain regimen is helping. But I will keep you in mind, and I look forward to seeing you soon!

I love reading your blogs and, as someone who is accused of being negative too often, this will make me reconsider the way I look at and express things because, actually, I am an optimistic pessimist, which means I am so expecting the worst that I am almost always pleasantly surprised.

I am sorry about your medical woes and will pray for your good recovery. My prayers have an excellent success rate, by the way. At our age, anything can happen, so living in the moment may be the best medicine for whatever ails you.

I love that description -- an "optimistic pessimist"!

Thank you so much for your kind words and your prayers. I still have an MRI to get through, and then I may hear what treatment they recommend for the back. "Meanwhile," the regimen for treating pain is helping. Hopefully the doxycycline is doing its job, and I am staying out of the sun. Given the predicted heat wave, that may be just as well!

I hope you and yours are all doing well!
