Thanks for retelling the bundle of sticks story. And for weaving so much poetry within your own stories.

Went to the Interfaith MLK gathering this afternoon. Felt good to sing the anthems of freedom and hear the words of MLK. All of us together.

Don’t doubt that we are with you, Grace and all here.

Although I’m kinda sleepy and going back to bed 😉to dream Martin’s dream.

I went to an MLK event down in Portland today. It was the right choice. Couldn't go to the one here in town because of a previous commitment, but I am so glad it happened. Just saw a picture of it on line. Looks as though the turnout was excellent! Sleep well and sweet dreams! Thank you, Maryli.

Thank you so much for this Sylvia. Your post has meant a lot today. I just sent it to my kids and two good friends and now I'm going to go listen to Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream

Thank you so much, Stephanie. I hope you enjoyed the dream speech. I am always amazed both by his dream and by his eloquence.

Dear Sylvia, After reading your post, I listened to Martin Luther KIng's I have a dream speech. As you say, I never fail to be moved. My friend and I, on watcing today's events and speeches unfold, recalled our joining the Women's March in Waschington in 2017. We wondered, where did that spirit in us go? I think you have nailed it - it came from a sense of outrage for sure, but also from a sense of community. We had so many of us together. Our friends, and so many, so many like minded women. You inspire me to find and feel that sense of community. To let go of despair and feel ourselves together again. Thank you for helping me find this path. Best, Hasty

Thank you so much, Hasty. I didn't watch anything related to the inauguration today. Instead I went to some MLK activities up here. I figure I can read the paper tomorrow. I know what you mean about the difference between today and 2017. It's a little hard to fathom. But I am sure that, moving forward, community, however and wherever we find it, will be critical. Also, I think the powers that be want us to despair because it enervates us and makes us want to give up. I don't want to give in to that. So, I try to keep on keeping on. Writing the blog helps me to do that. Thanks so much, Hasty.

I needed to read this after listening to our new president's speech. Angry, saddened, and wondering what our future will bring with him in charge.

I haven't paid one iota of attention to the inauguration today. I've been doing MLK programming instead. I will read about the inauguration in tomorrow's paper. But I am not surprised to learn that whatever he said left you feeling angry and sad. I'm so sorry. All the more reason for all of us to pull together now. We need each other. Thanks so much, Barbara.
