Also, we are having our den painted. Joel decided I should have all the pleasure of choosing colors. I agonized over color charts. How can there be so many variations of cream or off white? I finally chose but then second guessed myself for days. The colors chosen are light mocha and cappuccino. Sounds elegant, right? I don’t even like coffee, except for that delicious smell. I am happy to report that Joel and I are both pleased with the color choices!

Perfect choices!! It's funny to think someone has an actual job choosing names for all those colors.

I love color! I garden, I quilt, and I love color! Thanks for the great metaphor/example of color and compromise. My husband and I also disagree on color a bit, especially around blue vs. green. Kind of funny, isn’t it?

From what little I know, the blue/green disagreement seems to be pretty common. It IS kind of funny!

The blue/green conversation has been had MANY times in our family! It divides on gender lines … humor goes a long way to soften much of the rough edges in this world.

I am glad we are not alone!

I'm currently enjoying the color you chose for the office wall. In fact, I get compliments on it from people who visit in person or who see it on zoom. Happy belated Anniversary!!

Thank you! The building team allowed me to pick one wall of color, and I'm happy with the way it turned out. We picked it to go with the rug, which Heidi had donated a few years earlier (before the fire, if you can even imagine there ever was such a time!). So, it's totally by chance that the wall is the color it is. I am so glad you like the color, too, and I LOVE the artwork you have chosen to hang in the office! It all goes so beautifully together.

Thanks again, Sylvie. This part made me laugh outloud: “Which white?” The painter wanted to know.

Years ago we were faced with the prospect of readying a whole empty house for resale, shortly after buying it. (Quite a story, but not relevant to this note.) We didn’t have funds set aside to do this, and were limited in time, so I went to Sherwin-Williams because I knew they had good paint, which would cover well in one coat. And at that time they also had a returned or discounted paint can table. I got a couple of gallons of WHITE PAINT, and was off to “freshen” every room!

Didn’t take me long to realize my two gallons were surprisingly very different. I’d made the mistake of pouring workable trays from either until even I saw I was using “two different colors of white” in the same room. Finally, when one was completely empty, I zipped back and was fortunate to find two more. But this time I chatted with the manager who showed me the full 30+ color charts for WHITES! Enlightened, (no pun intended) I’ve learned that some whites are best for sunny rooms, while others will look chalky. Who knew?

Left a chart for the new owners so they’d know which white to use for “touch ups” in each room.😎

Now I think of this as a reminder of the beauty of skin colors. In fact, just today I watched an ad for The Rockettes Christmas Show at Radio City Music Hall, where I delighted in the updated diversity of the dancers who used to be “all white.”

Ha, those of us who’ve stood in front of those sample white paint chips know there is no such thing. And prefer the show of truly, many colors.

That story about the white paint is pretty funny! And, remember when we were little and had crayons that were labeled "flesh color"? What a ridiculous thing! I'm glad we've moved on from that!
